Playback Override ON While Rec Enabled

I think it would be great to have the ability to keep playback override on while recording, if possible…

There are four reasons that come to mind as to why I think this is beneficial:

1: The most obvious: ex: your levels or other parameters don’t go back to default when recording
2: You’re not forced to commit to modifying the pattern immediately (destructive editing)
3: It resolves the confusion of going between the mix-mode and levels for a workaround
4: It frees up mix mode just for live mix performance

They don’t do that. The levels and pitches and other parameters are recorded with whatever values are currently set by the faders.

Thanks for responding! I was referencing playback volume (for example) per track while having Rec/edit enabled— so, if I have playback override on, it would be nice if rec/edit didn’t ignore/disengage playback override —

Practical ex: if I set a level on a track with playback override on to -20 db, while in rec/edit it would be nice if the sample didn’t go back to its original volume unless I turn off playback override or commit the change

I understand now.

Thanks for hearing me out-- what are your thoughts on this?

Can’t say this enough-- you’ve done some great work with all the coding so far on the s2400, including any others that have worked on this project

I think this is a good idea! It can be annoying at times when you’re working on a project and have all sorts of playback overrides activated that you haven’t comitted yet and need to record more stuff and the project sounds way different when hitting record button.

most definitely! thanks for catching this–it definitely can… I’m thinking this would be a simple fix that could potentially save a lot of frustration

Great suggestion! I could see myself just leaving the override on as default until I wanted to do some sort of performance/mix down.
