@mstrblstr You mentioned that you would like the level/velocity to be the same for the triggered tracks. What about the other properties (pitch, filter, etc)? They would have to be their current UI values. That is, how the sound is set at this moment, how it would get recorded into a pattern right now if you pressed the pad. I can’t think where else the values would come from. If you wanted specific property values, then you would have to layer them manually into the pattern.
Make sense?
Right, as I envisioned it, each voice would use its defined envelopes etc. Its just a way to simultaneously trigger. I wouldn’t expect one filter to control all layers. Thanks for asking I hope that makes sense!
Just to be super-clear, the first sound would play back exactly as recorded into the pattern. The triggered sounds would play back with their current properties, which are not saved in the pattern and can change on the fly.
[edit for even more clarity]
The triggered sounds would not be stored in the pattern at all.
[furthermore]
Any track in the group triggers all others. For example, A1 and A2 are in same group, playing either of them plays both.
Right - the only thing I could see propagating would be velocity to the other group members - what do you think?
Thanks so much for looking into this!
Trigger Groups has been added to the 2025-04-10 update.
When a track is played, all other tracks in the same trigger group are played at the same time. All of the triggered tracks inherit the level of the track played. In the track settings, the number in brackets next to the trigger group is the number of tracks in that group (including the one being edited).
This is a very basic implementation of this feature, and it might be expanded on in the future. If you feel the feature is not yet usable then don’t use it yet, but don’t complain about it. Please do feel free to discuss what additional functionality might be helpful to add in future updates.
trigger groups just made the fuse blow in my espresso machine.
F$%^ you isla instruments!!!
This is such a great feature! So cool you put it in there!
I just tried it out a bit and have an idea for additional functionality in the future:
At present, when muting or soloing one track in the group, the others act accordingly . This is good and makes total sense.
I could see situations where I wanted to solo or mute just one track in the group - e.g. to listen to editing I am doing for this one in particular.
Maybe this could work by pressing Shift+Mute/Solo.
The new function already rocks as it is though!
Thank Mickey - it’s such an awesome feature
Some further ideas on the function:
-
Trigger Group member tracks mixer mode levels - Toggle per voice, enabled by default.
Thats because otherwise if you pull the mixer volume fader down on one sound, the others in the group are still at their set dynamic level. Faders would use whichever of the fader modes are selected in the Settings. -
All the channels in a trigger group follow multimode pitch. Default-enabled.
Currently, a ganged channel doesn’t change pitch. Example, layering a piano sample with some strings. In multimode, one would change pitch, the other wouldn’t. This way if you multimode the piano, the string channel would follow its pitch, starting from the pitch defined in its patch. -
Trigger Groups only work as you’d expect on one-shots/saved slices. Accepting this fact and not considering it a bug keeps it simpler. Thats because currently, triggering a slice triggers the the main slice. Saving the slice is a workflow, not a workaround.
Also, I agree with Dave on shift+solo
@dave Shift+Mute/Solo already does a thing.
@mstrblstr Re. point 3: If we are adding options, would it make sense to have a sync slice option? I think it could be per-track, meaning if this track is triggered play the same slice number. Or play the main slice if the option is off. Basically, same as the pitch option.
yes that would make sense to me
