I guess I’ve been taking the big hand-rest on my MPC60 for granted… until I’ve started using the S2400.
The encoder-wheel is probably the most used knob/control on both the MPC and S2400.
With the S2400, I noticed I get slight, unnecessary fatigue from needing to “hover” and hold-up my arm over the encoder knob, since there’s no where to rest your hand.
I still do rest my hand to avoid that fatigue, by either two ways:
-
- Awkwardly rest the right-side of my right-hand/palm on the narrow aluminum side-panel (obviously, it doesn’t feel the most natural nor designed to comfortably rest a hand/palm/wrist).
-
- While your thumb/index fingers are on the knob, you can rest your extended middle/ring/pinky fingers on the top-edge/corner of the unit (around where the “Master Control” text is) to support your hand/arm. Also works… but, this will undoubtedly wear the paint off after several years of use.
Would be nice if someone made a hand/wrist-rest integrated into a side-panel, either wood or metal.
Opens up lots of possibilities for creativity, wood shaping, design, shape, etc.
Something with clean lines, small/narrow (just enuf to rest the side of your palm/hand) and a simple, smooth shape would be fly.
