S2400 + DSP workflow discussion

I installed the DSP card into my S2400 and the thing still makes noise! Woohoo!

Now that I have the mod setup I am interested if people have workflow tips to share.

Sorry if this is a ReadTheManual moment or if I missed an existing thread - just wondering what is possible and what folks have done so far!

I use the 8 individual outs instead of the L/R mix in my daily S2400 usage - I guess that won’t work with the DSP card since it is not physically routed to those outputs! womp womp for me

So I wonder: If I use the card as a virtual instrument host or send fx bus is there any way to isolate those channels instead of summing the entire mix? For example if I want to play some piano plugin - is that always going to be stacked with all 8 channels in the mix out? Is there any way I can use the L/R as just ‘a stereo output for the VST host’ - then I could even plug those outputs back into the s2400 inputs for hardware resampling. :smiling_face_with_horns:

I use the live loop feature a lot - an example session might be playing some outboard gear into the inputs - so now I’m wanting to apply some VST effect to it. Before the DSP I would route the live input monitor to one of those 8 channel outs - with the DSP card if I wanted to apply some reverb or other plugin to the live outboard gear as I’m recording or playing - is this possible and what is the workflow looking like?

Cheers all and eternal thanks to isla team for bringing the fire

I can talk about main versus individual outs: when you installed the DSP board, you rerouted the individual outputs to the DSP board. As such you have eight individual FX buses (that can also be in different combinations of stereo pairs) as well as a separate stereo FX bus on the main outs. I also don’t use the main outs so I’m not using that stereo bus, but I do use FX on the individual outs. If I had more than eight tracks to work with in my recording setup, I’d probably mess around with a 100% wet signal on the main outs to then mix in with the individual tracks.

I’ve never used the looper, so hopefully someone else can answer that question.
