Multi out channels 7-8 change stereo samples to mono

Hey all, I’ve noticed my machine randomly changes samples as mono on channels 7-8. I’m running multi out and have no issue selecting left and right everytime I load a sample (which is kind of annoying/ why can’t it remember my selection when I change between samples??). Tedious but not the end of the world. The bigger issue here is sometimes the stereo out 7/8 will treat a stereo sample as mono? display it in the channel info as mono, and only play mono out plays left in 7, right in 8. When I load the same sample on channels 1-6 it plays stereo. Is that an issue with the sample or the machine? I’m pretty sure I exported these stereo samples identically from my daw…

Any ideas?

thanks

on further analysis, the stereo sample plays stereo across all other pads and banks, but in the channel info it says mono and it can’t be modified.

How are the channels from s2400 connected to your mixer? And do you have and fx inserted on the DSP channels (if installed)? Some fx can cause unintended issues with playback of samples if playing mono to stereo or stereo to mono i think…

Maybe detail all of the connections between s2400 outputs and the mixer inputs, and list the pan settings on your mixer (example below). Note that s2400 stereo sample groups are limited to odd followed by even channel numbers within the design, i.e. 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and 7&8.

Typically, tracks with mono samples would be set to mono on the s2400 track settings, and tracks with stereo samples set to stereo on the s2400 track settings. Your mixing console would then have to reflect your choices by treating stereo groups as fader pairs and hard-panning them left and right (unless your mixer has stereo inputs on a single fader…). In the below example, I have chosen mono samples for tracks 1-6, a stereo sample for pad group 7&8, and using the main outputs as a stereo fx group send that I can use with a&b sends.

E.g. set-up.

  • s2400 out 1 → Mixer Ch 1 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 2 → Mixer Ch 2 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 3 → Mixer Ch 3 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 4 → Mixer Ch 4 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 5 → Mixer Ch 5 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 6 → Mixer Ch 6 (panned C for mono samples).
  • s2400 out 7 → Mixer Ch 7 (hard panned L for stereo samples).
  • s2400 out 8 → Mixer Ch 8 (hard panned R for stereo samples).
  • s2400 main L out → Mixer Ch 9 (hard panned L for stereo operation).
  • s2400 main R out → Mixer Ch 10 (hard panned R for stereo operation).

Sorry for the long and potentially derr information but it may help…

check your panning settings. Also the sample itself seems to be MONO as that’s what the UI shows…
