they look like nice mixers - does it record to usb stick then?

Is there currently a note-off feature Iâm missing? If not that would need to happen in conjunction with more polyphony.
I still donât get the more polyphony thing at all. I have sequencer requests though
You can set a sample to be gated and it plays as long as you recorded the note held down. Or you can record or insert a new note/trig with the volume set to 0 on the track you want to mute.
Maybe what youâre talking about is something else?
Basically more sounds can play at the same time. I guess if they implemented this, sounds A1 & B1 (for example) wouldnât cut each other off while playing. This could open the door for more complex compositions and possibilities.
If youâre using it as an all-in-one groovebox there are better options. I wouldnât hold your breath on more voices. Iâd rather the work go into the sequencer.
i would disagree on this. my next EP (coming soon) will be completely produced with the S2400. itâs oldschool boom bap and for this kind of sound, the S2400 nails it and is almost perfect in many aspects.
the only thing iâm missing is layering drum sounds, which with 8 voices is just not possible if your main sample, bass sounds etc. are also audio samples.
i would take 16 voices anyday, but u can also get there with 8.
iâll share a link to my upcoming EP when the time comes.
peace
Awesome, look forward to hearing it! About the more voices - has there ever been a sampler that doubled itâs voices after it was released? Not trying to rain on the parade or anything - just a reality check.
Irdk. In the past, it was usually an entirely new machine (eg: mpc60 to mpc3000, 16 to 32voice).
But, the S2400 can be the first to do so. (it is, after-all, the first to recreate the SP1200).
I also equally want the S2400âs midi-seqeuncer to record/pass-thru/play CCs (pitch bend, mod wheel, other basic CCs).
I think thatâs a real limiting/handicap of it atm, if using it as a main centerpiece/hub/hardware-midi-sequencer. Once it can record CCs (smoothly, like for sweeps, etc), Iâm selling the mpc60, lol.
Iâm not sure why people think this is even possible. Brad and devs are pretty quiet on this one.
Agreed. Separate track lengths would be cool too.
aaaand maybe some lfos
Maybe thatâs the reason theyâve been very quiet about it, like forever⌠because itâs probably something they want; but also top-secret.
When was that post?
I remember seeing Bradâs post on GS a long time back and to date I take the silence from Isla HQ as the calm before an awesome wave of god level FW update (in my mind). If it happens, Isla SP2400 will no longer be a side by side comparison with the new re-issue of Rossumâs SP1200, it will be a benchmark on how a re-issue should be done right in the first place. Keep the beloved core character intact and adding modern conveniences around it. Having 16 voices and analog filter control will address a huge void in the current sampler gear space which I think is starting to hot up these days. I look up to Isla team to address this void because they have the gonads to deliver. No pressure ISLA team.
BTW - not dissing on Rossumâs re-issue or that he got it wrong with the re-issue. The purpose there is to build a 1:1 replica for a select few who wanted it. SP2400 for those who want the reimagination for the same with modern conveniences and tech to boot.
Yeah 16 voices isnât something I would turn my nose up at, but I would literally rather take all other feature requests first. Especially effects!!
Effects board + that analog filter board in the original plans. The digital filters are alrightâŚbutâŚ
I would definitely welcome an 8/16 voice option as well as layering (âŚgaspâŚevenâŚvelocity layeringâŚ). I had some really nice layered drums kit on my MPC1000 and 2500 a decade ago that I wouldnât mind revisiting⌠if I can find them.
Yeah definitely effects for me too. Doesnât need to be a slew of them either. My wish list is sidechain, EQs, reverb and delay. Global or by track options for the reverb, delay and bit reduction. Multi mode in TR mode would be nice too.
Yup, exactly. Give me the essentials (and maybe an LFO or two) and youâve got a hell of a product. I donât need choruses, flangers, and phasers
How much are you willing to pay for an card upgrade?
