Hi, i have a similar issue like in this post:

I have a Midi recording issue I just can’t seem to resolve. I have tried many configurations and will list a couple to see if someone recognises something obvious I may have setup incorrectly. Scenario 1: Prophet XL inputting midi to s2400 via USB Host port, In from USB host checked under MIDI ports. Output to Ensoniq ESQ-1 via Midi DIN (Out to Din checked). ESQ-1 plays fine as is, timing perfect in real time jamming etc as long as I don’t enable record. The issue begins when I record the midi …

I want to play the pads on the S2400, record the midi notes in ableton, and after play it back by sending midi from ableton to S2400. Simple DAW record/overdub/playback procedure. For that i need to check the [note out] and [note in] parameter in the sync settings. As soon as i hit the record enable button in the ableton track and play a pad on S2400 there is midi feedback…
I tried sending the midi out thru Midi DIN and back with USB Midi. The same behaviour…

Is there a local OFF setting somewhere, or do i miss something else?

Do you have ‘monitor off’ in Ableton?
