Sorry I found a few threads on it , but they were old.
I simply want to copy say A1 pattern one to A1 pattern two.
Obviously I could copy pattern , but I’ve replaced a bass on this pattern with automation that has fewer tracks than the one I want to copy over to.
I.e the pattern I want to copy over to is different , so I can’t just duplicate this one and delete data I don’t need or add to it
A bit confusing , basically copy and pasting pattern won’t resolve this I need to copy the single track over to a different pattern.
Maybe there is a quicker way, but here is how I did it:
- Enter Step program on the source pattern
- Select the complete pattern with ‘Shift-Select’
- Hit ‘Enter’ to perform an action
- Select ‘Copy’ from the menu or hit the ‘Copy’ button
- Hit ‘Back’ to exit step mode
- Go to the destination pattern
- Enter ‘Step program’
- Hit ‘F7’ to paste from memory
- Make sure to uncheck the banks/tracks (with the pads) that you don’t want to be copied in your new pattern
- Hit ‘Paste & Replace’

Ty, I thought append would do it , like merge it , but it seems to just add it on the end of the pattern.
Looks like it’s quite a bit of effort , I’ll just have to be careful what I delete and be more organised.
I’ve been spoilt with Roland and Elektron, they have more resources of course.
This is knowledge, thank you.
Well I take back my comments , now I’ve had it longer and realise that the editor roll editing is more fundamental to editing patterns than I initially realised, it’s nicely featured and fairly trivial to use. Still prefer to be able just to hold data in memory without going into the editor screen window , but that’s just me used to other boxes. I embrace a different way of working really.
