I like how pressing a pad while in “Save New Sample” dialog automatically selects a track in the menu. A really nice touch!
However, I don’t like how it also jumps to the “Assign to Track” menu item.
See, when opening the dialog, the “Save File” option is already pre-selected, meaning it takes only one encoder click to execute it. But after pressing a pad, the user have to scroll down again before executing the option. Which means one extra action (and some confusion) for a routine task.
So my idea is: either not to jump to “Assign to Track” at all after pressing a pad, or to jump back to “Save File” when the same pad is pressed twice. I believe this could streamline the interaction with the machine and become something a user could develop a muscle memory for.
