Getting Started

I know the pdf and video manuals are good place to start but what should I learn first prior to getting my s2400? (that’s on the way) shortcuts, essential tips and tricks, maintenance, Do’s and Don’ts etc.

If you come from another device (MPC, Maschine) or if you’ve never used a SP1200 before, I’d just wait.

It’s cool to watch the videos and everything, but the videos and the manual will actually help you when you have the 2400 in front of you. Trust me. :+1:

I think you’ll need to buy a SD card so read about SD cards and SD card potential related problems on this forum.

Read about outputs as well. It may have an influence about the way you want to use the machine in your environment.

And indeed after you receive the machine, videos, manual, forum…etc

For sure, uh-oh what’s wrong with the outputs?

I’ve been on MPC for years, but I wanted to try something different. I’ve heard good things so here we are lol. I definitely will try to develop my own workflow and not compare machines.

If you plan to use the analog filters, you need to use the separate analog outs. Their output level is low. For my setup and my workflow I had to buy a behringer analog adat converter that I use to boost the level for example.
Something else to mention is, if you use separate outs, they are disconnected physically from the main outs. So in my case, I don’t use the main out.
Note that these points might get adressed with the release of an additional board in the future.

If you don’t plan to use the separate outs, then you can be fine with the main out or the USB out.

So before the machine arrives, I think it’s good to think about how you’ll plug it and integrate in your environment so that it’s not a frustrating start

Has this been addressed in the new batch of machines?
