Feature Request #07 - sub-kits [1]
Topic: sample management
Pretext (skip if TLTR)
It is so great that S2400 extended the possibilities with (from 10s SP1200 perspective: unlimited sampling memory). That way you can have all at once: basic drum sets; loops; longer voice and atmo samples and even singing. This leads to the troublesome situation that one has to recreate the basic stuff again and again and it is not possible to swap the basic drum kit. (It was the same with the MPC3000, and that was the main reason I had sold it back then).
It would be great if one could dial in and swap repeatedly used basic structures like meticulously crafted drum kits, and that is why I suggest:
Function: sub-kits
How it works
- ability to save and load sub-kits of 8 tracks from and to the currently selected bank
What it does
- save: saves the current bank as a sub-kit
- load: loads a sub-kit to the current bank and replaces existing sounds there
How it could be implemented
- load and save via normal file menu just as with kits
- should be available with pre-listening as with samples
- when in load sub-kit mode:
- rotary encoder pre-loads sub-kit to current bank and lets user test
- enter or push affirms loading
- when in load sub-kit mode:
- should be available with pre-listening as with samples
- Bonus:
- when replacing, save replaced bank automatically as a backup
What would be gained
- easy artist or album fingerprint and style
- by using same but unique essentials for tracks
- consistency over tracks and albums
- very easy remix
- different genres
- different styles
