Filters, Sample Edit, Etc

Things that I’m unable to find in the manual:

  1. Is there a simple way to return to Main (Pattern View) from any menu?

  2. How can I go directly to Waveform Edit from anywhere without having to go through the Sample or Slice menus?

  3. Are digital Hi, Lo, Bandpass filters available for each track and can they be heard at the headphone out?

  4. Can you resample through any filters?

Thanks.

  1. Back button? Although sometimes have to back step a few times. But it’s not so bad.

  2. Loop/Slice button switch on and press the B button above the relevant track and it will bring up the waveform on the oled. Took me a while to work that out but it’s prob my most used feature. Chopping is a breeze on the S2400.

  3. Separate digi filters on every track and I ‘think’ they are available on the headphone out but might be mistaken. Believe only the analogue filters can be heard from their specific outputs.

  4. Good question. My understanding is resampling does sample through inputs 1+2 circuitry which gives you both 12bit and analogue input flavour. But I’m less sure if it resamples any modified track settings including pitch, digi filters, etc. From what I can tell, resample can only pitch up to 45rpm to do the pitch down trick. Can someone verify?

About 4. you can use the “bounce function” if you want to resample something with digital filters applied to it.

If only you could resample whilst in sample mode, that would be the best option for most cases.

Good stuff. Thanks for the help.

Revisiting question 2:

How do I go to waveform edit for a sound that I haven’t assigned to a pad/ track?
I’m trying to re-chop the original sample.

Also (and this may be stupid), can you time stretch non-loops (one shots) to match the pitch and time of the main loop? (I have chops that are not part of the main loop.) Or, will I need to just sample and loop where the sounds appear, stretch, and then discard the rest?

You need to assign a sample to a track to use the waveform editor.
