Hello! Is there any chance to have dx-like cards instead of harshy opl3 in the future? Paraphonic with some “good” analog filter (Moog-like, etc) would be really good option
Sure, fund its development and you can have anything you want. Alternatively, demonstrate to Isla that there’s a market that would justify them adding it to their already ambitious roster.
Personally, I’d have zero interest it since there are so many options in the market already.
Firstly, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone – this is my personal request, and the company can decide for itself what to do. At the same time, thousands of professional musicians still use a more distinct, clean, and rich sound, which reflects the success of similar new synthesizers from well-known companies, as opposed to the typical OPL3-like devices. I’d also like to note that more enhanced filters offer, first of all, better sound quality (since they are not based on the 3320 or noisy 13700, but on discrete components), at least for bass. To be clear - I’m not an investor, but a customer, who is ready to pay the money instead of a less useful, but cheaper option. The synth itself has a medium price, so why not make it consistent.
Secondly, «other options» are separate synthesizers (and yes, I already have the TX802 and TX81Z), but if that wasn’t clear, the charm of Caladan is that you can have several synthesizers in one, instead of a bunch of junk.
Thank you very much for the advice, but it would be better to hear a constructive response. I hope these are compelling arguments for considering the request.
My advice was sincere but you seem to have taken offense.
Got it. Unfortunately, it’s useless in this case.
Or plugins, which the Caladan is said to be able to host some variations of. Still early days and not a lot of details on this, but given dexed is open source and already has linux and bare-metal pi versions, I’d guess the chances of coming up with something Caladan supports are good.
Yeah, they claimed to release plugins for both processing and instruments, so we’ll see what they come up with.
