DSP Plugin discussion

Hi! Finally had time to do the install today.
I tested out a whole bunch of plugins on the Main Out just for the sake of hearing what the DSP board offers as stock VSTs.

On some plugins, I’m noticing some strange jumps between stereo and mono.
For example, I tested out a reverb which sounded stereo as soon as I loaded it but then jumped to mono when I tweaked its size parameter.
This seems to happen arbitrarily with various plugins when I start playing with parameters (not width, spread or stereo image obviously).

On another note, when I place a delay, reverb, or any plugin on the Returns A and/or B and send them a signal from the Bus mixer, nothing happens (faders are up and nothing is muted).
I’m not sure where my A & B return signals are supposed to land but its currently not reaching the Main Out (nor HP out) on my unit.
There is also no way of knowing if the signal is reaching these A&B Return channel VSTs either.
Have missed something or is this also a bug?

Regarding the returns not working, it seems to be a newly introduced bug
It has been reported here🙂

What files have to be in my dspcard/plugins/vst folder to install a VST3 effect plugin?

I did some trial and error runs, but eventhough it copied stuff to the dsp card, its not found when i try to add a plugin to a bus.

Hello folks, im planning to organise plugins into mono and stereo folders. Does anyone know if its simply a process of taking note of whats mono vs stereo, opening sd card on computer and dragging and dropping plugins into mono or stereo folders?

I dont wanna corrupt anything so thought id ask first.

please adhere to the plugin file/folder naming scheme, for now additional folders are not supported

Thanks for the info!

So, after all those days, what plugins did you added to your S2400 ?

Stock plugins sound a little bit too digital for my taste.

Outside the stock Airwindows and MDA plugins, I also loaded all the Calf plugins, the RX950 plugin from Inphonik, and a ton of stuff from the Patch Storage page Brad linked in the top post of this thread.

My music is entirely sample-based, so the majority of my plugin use is about making disparate samples that have no business being layered sit well together. Light EQ, reverb, delay, filters, etc, all provide glue and sand off some of the rougher edges.

Airwindows stock. I think there are some pretty good ones.

Calf plugins. Also a couple I like and use regularly.

I also make sample based beats and actually feel I am covered pretty good by the above so far.
Always interested in trying out new ones though.

Would like to use RX950 but it seems to have problems still according to one of the latest threads, so I haven’t bought it.

This one doesn’t seems to work (error), do you know why ?

because of this:

(NEEDED) Shared library: [libfftw3f.so.3]

What does that mean ? Missing from this plugin, or from the S2400 player

we don’t include this library in the firmware build, plugins should make sure they come will all the non-standard libraries they need…

The plugin installation procedure isn’t working — after syncing files and rebooting S2400, I still can’t see the plugins. Why is that?

If you mean all plug-ins in general, I’ll suggest you make a new topic about it and describe the procedure you use.

No, I only want to add one specific plugin from the ISLA website.

Okay, so nothing wrong in the procedure.

I think I remember Brad mentioning in a video, that doing step 5 (sync files) twice can be a good idea. The machine could somehow occasionally miss it the first time.

I had some problems with the Calf plugins not showing up. All of a sudden they where there after some attempts.

Maybe worth a trying again.

Or tell which specific plugin you mean. Maybe someone else in here can tell if they’ve had the same problem.

Thanks for the tip on Calf plugins, I’d really love to try them but I haven’t been able to manage installing them. Can I DM you for tips on doing this?

You are very welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

I am not very technical minded, and don’t remember doing anything special to install them besides the regular procedure. But maybe if we exchange screenshots of folder structure, we could be lucky to see where it is not working for you.

Shoot me a DM and we’ll find out something.
