The new project, Caladan, is super interesting (i also watch the streaming ;-)) but does anyone have informations about the dsp for the s2400?
Since january there aren t informations, is the project still active? Which effects? When?
Please tell us something!
It is being worked on. That’s all I can say.
not even if it will be released within the year?
Anyway thanks a lot, now i know the project is alive
I totally get your excitement for DSP- I’m holding off on finishing a lot of my S2400 projects because I want to see how Isla can take care of effect duties inside the box.
That said, the Isla team has every right to be tight lipped. Any initial release dates or product features that don’t come to exact fruition and they are besieged by a horde of angry villagers with torches and pitchforks.
Let me try this Candyman sh*t. Maybe Mickey will pop back out:
Disk drive, disk drive, disk drive…
I imagine (ie total speculation out of my ass lol) that they might want to get Caladan out the door, then work on the DSP cards. And while I continue to speculate wildly, any effects on the Caladan could make their way to the S2400 DSP card because why reinvent the wheel?
Interesting… so we probably have months of waiting ahead… see you in 2024!
i also think it’s gonna be a year from now on until we see something, be it the DSP or the filter board. happy when they actually pull it off…
… much more interested in quality of life updates or UX refinements.
I thought it was interesting during the Caladan build live stream, Brad actually made it sound like the DSP is closer to mass production than the Filter board at the moment. At least from the hardware side of things. Sounds like the filter board is getting revised and hopefully they’ll have a new iteration of the board in hand for testing again soon. Either way, I agree at this point we probably won’t get our hands on either board til 2024. I’ve got my fingers crossed we’ll get to at least hear a demo of the filter board before the year is up though.
Thanks for the update, please consider providing a SDK for third-party development, Cheers!
Sooo… no mention of the announcement that the DSP card can run VSTs??
Can’t wait to find out more
That is crazy! I don t even imagine how could it works! looking forward for a video!
Missed the live stream, is there any info on pre-orders of the DSP card?
looking forward to using the dsp card for IR reverbs and delays … there are great libraries of vintage FX boxes which will sound killer with the S2400
Word! With the dsp card paired with the filter board I’m curious to see how much gear I won’t need afterwards. 2400 is a beast!
The company i would love to see most to use with the DSP card is cableguys. With all those shapers you could do so much. Check out their filters and Andrew Huangs video in which he shows how to transform simple noises and drum hits with the curves. Great stuff!
I saw a dsp firmware update photo on Isla’s FB. Keeping my eyes peeled.
Yeah. I think I saw something similar on Instagram a couple weeks ago. I wonder if anyone on the team such as @bradholland would oblige this devoted, single-purpose driven comminity with a commesurate communiqué?
Is there not an official news thread regarding the DSP board?. Am I out of the loop and have forgotten?
There have not been been any development tools or implementation guides for interested people released for the S2400 to date, but as @Tummy63 said earlier, the DSP board would especially present a logical time to begin opening things up for third party / community developers.
It seems like a complex and mysterious undertaking, but regardless of what the team end up choosing for the scope, I have sincere hopes for some sort of moderated discussion, development, or alpha testing by this community prior to launch, so as to smooth out bugs or improve things, prior to setting them in stone.
hope we hear something about this soon !
S2400 is already an ambitious project for such a small team, with all the bugs and the feature requests on the backlog, i don’t think it’s sensible to divert focus to another colossal undertaking like caladan
