I’ve had my machine for about 2 months, mostly using the Phono Inputs so far.
Now that I’ve begun putting the other inputs to use, I experience a constant clicking sound on Line Inputs 1-2.
I have tried disconnecting every cable running into the machine and plugging the power cable directly to the electric socket in the wall, to make sure it is not interfering with other electrical equipment. Clicking still there.
Below is a picture from the sampler, where I have just recorded ‘nothing’.
I’ve turned the input knob all the way up and used the x100 function in the sampler. It peaks at -37.0 dB. To make it visible, I’ve normalized it. Also, a sound bite is uploaded beneath the picture.
The clicking is not extremely loud, but still audible when using my SM57 which requires that I turn the signal up a good amount.
Which firmware are you on? I bought my s2400 second hand and it had the same problem. The seller got in touch with Isla support and the only solution we found was going back from the latest firmware to the firmware from 28 April 2023.
I’m on the latest firmware. I just tried rolling back to the 28. April 2023 firmware as you suggests, and the clicking actually disappeared.
It introduced another problem though:
The rotary encoder got reversed so it would dial in the opposite direction (counterclockwise). Also it got super sensitive. When dialing it, for every step/notch it lands on, it jumps through four rows in the menu instead of just going to the next line. Same problem in the samler mode, where I normally use it in combination with the faders - can’t use it for fine adjustments now.
Unfortunately impossible to work with, so I have re-updated and the clicking is back.
Mine is brand new from Thomann. Also I’ve ordered the DSP card, so I will have to be able to upgrade firmware at some point and for future updates.
I guess I will have to open a support ticket. Appreciate your input, it might be a little step further in the troubleshooting
I had this problem but it was temporary. I can’t quite explain how it fixed itself, but it did.
I thought it was perhaps something about a pedal I was running along with it, or some weird CV signal from my modular gear. I checked it all trying to find the problem. Never did.
