I could be overlooking something and this might be already possible on a 2400.
On the SP-12/1200 you set the swing to the segment/pattern, meaning that you can have the swing changing slightly throughout the song.
E.g seg01 67% swing, seg02 71% swing…etc. This can add some more ‘real drummer’ dynamic to your arrangements, as stated in the old SP manual iirc!

this swing is per track but the manual also mentions swing in the pattern too, no mention of locking to patt

Correct. You can set swing across everything or per track. But when you set it, it is set across all patterns
