Sample Rate Reduction

Having a sample rate reduction on sample input and under track settings. The same way bit reduction is achieved, I was hoping the process for sample rate can be done as well.

Doesnā€™t that already exist? I could be wrong. Hopefully someone will clarify.

It does when you switch to lofi but Iā€™m looking to expand beyond just 26khz. Kind of the same way the Ensoniq EPS/16+ has selectable rates on sampling into the machine.

I was thinking that since the S2400 emulates 12 bit, we can emulate everything in between. Especially on the input where i can sample something say 11khz and 10 bit to get a different texture of sound.

This would be cool to have. I think weā€™re covered with bit reduction/crushing as an effect post sampling. There are different ways that resampling could be approached. The old school sampler way of doing it offline (I.e. destructively) is one way. Or it could be applied as a real time effect, which would probably be better suited for the upcoming DSP card. They would have different aliasing characteristics.

Good Point, the DSP Card could incorporate an algorithm based plugin which would be a better approach. Something like the existing TAL DAC would be perfect as it is also linux based like the DSP Card.

I would love this per voice with modulation capability. The fx card will do it per channel but thatā€™s different unless you stick with one voice per channel at once.

Youā€™re really looking for an Akai S950 I believe. The S2400 is an SP 1200 on steroids but the specific features your looking for were on the Vintage Akai S950, alot of popular videoes are on youtube with producers using this combo. Thereā€™s also A VST 3 plugin called, ā€œSP950ā€. I have it for post processing on FL Studio to get that specific sound. I forget the name of the manufacturer but itā€™s very dope! However I remember buying it from www.pluginboutique.com just go to that website and in the search box type inā€¦ SP 950. I think it only costs about $50.00 and I believe you can choose to install AU version or VST 3 version. Also if your into Lofi thereā€™s another plugin company named ā€œD16 Groupā€. Check out their Lofi Plugin. It emulates every single vintage sampler with itā€™s presets menu to choose from. The Ensoniq one is in their as well as SP12/ 1200/ ASR-10/ S950 and you can also adjust the bit rate and sample rate to whater you want besides using the ton of sampler emulation ones. Itā€™s pretty incredible! I also have this plugin and itā€™s both Au VST 3 compatible. That might be the best one for your needs. It costs a little more but not much more maybe like $120.00 www.d16group.com

Yes itā€™s called, ā€œDecimort 2ā€. Itā€™s listed under the Products/ Effectsā€¦ scroll all theEnj*Ä„ ft=p02:oĀ”怋ā€¢ā€¢ā˜†ā˜…ā˜†Ā” way down and click on Decimort 2. I hope this eases your mind. If I were you Iā€™d buy the Decimort 2. Itā€™s got much more of what your looking for. Right now theyā€™re selling it for $49. Euro dollars or punds. Iā€™m not sure of the exchange rate but I bet around $100 US dollars.? Hope this helps

Iā€™ve definitely tried decimort and love it. I just want the capabilities in the S2400 to help stay in flow for sound design. I try to finish everything im the S24 and then dump to daw.

I hope they can implement this! This would really push the S24 to new sonic territories.

I use inphonik rx950 for that s950 sound. It sounds pretty good.

The ā€œHotone Krushā€ is about $60 on amazon and lets you do bitcrush, sample rate, and mix level. There are YouTube videos, it sounds nice on synths and drums.

I have an old Alesis Bitrman that does this stuff too, plus modulation

There are many other pedals that do the same

In Ableton Live, check out the Redux effect

Iā€™d still love to have per note control of sample rate for sounds. If we ever get a mod matrix for an LFO or three then this would be a nice destination as well.

Bro, why donā€™t you just change around your signal flow. Send your sample material through Decimort 1st and then sample it from your computer directly into S2400. Itā€™s a simple solution. I think you have to be realistic. The S2400 is only a way better, modern version of the SP1200. Itā€™s a simple solution to your problem. Audio material from Computer with Decimort on it directly into S2400ā€¦ Your problem is solved. Lol

Is it Linux? Ive used the vst before but only on windows

Agreed! Also going to take a look at that guiat pedal. It sounds like exactly what im looking for

Yea for me thatā€™s an extra step im trying to elimate. I produce entire tracks in the S2400 and need a few key tools like that to stop me from using my computer. It just kills my workflow

I understand, know what you mean and also how you feel. I can relate. It is a bit of a pain in the neck and can mess up your vibe in a creational sense. I wish I could help you. The only other thing I could think of is to spend like a few hours once or twice a week, just to create your samples on the computer and then store them into your S2400 SD card by either the SD port on your computer or by using a thunderbolt to SD card adapter. This way you donā€™t have to run through your computer into Decimort. Once you drop your samples folder onto the SD card then the next time you feel creative you can eliminate the entire sampling process and just load them up quickly from your SD card. Plus they will already have the sample rate Lofi sound on them yaā€™ know. Just choose a sample from the SD card and touch the pas you want to load it on. Even faster than having to sample into the S2400. Think about it. Thatā€™s my last solution and advice. I wish you luck.

Thanks for the insight!

Spending a day prepping samples may be the way to circumvent my need for sample reduction. Plus this gives me an excuse to really utilize my 1TB storage on the SD card.

Yes my brother :+1: :+1: If you need any drum samplesā€¦ holla at yaā€™ boy. I got all the MPC kits Neptunes, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Alchemistā€¦ you name it and I probably have it.
