Variable Bit Rate

The old Ensoniq gear has a feature that allows you to adjust the bit rate from anywhere between like 8 and I forget the max. I understand the S2400 can currently switch between 12 and 24 bit. Just wondering if there’s a way for it to hit the numbers between those 2? It’s a great way to make a signature drum sound.

I would love that also. My A3000 was able to sample in various bitrate or downgrade samples afterwards. Loved it, abused it, made it sound unique. S2400 doesn’t aim to be that - and I think it will sound unique all by itself - but it’s worth asking

This would be cool. Never even thought of this.

@ justineastwick It’s one of the two main parameters of a bitcrusher. So the main parameter of an FX already on the market. Would be nice to add it for sure, reducing the bitrate for specific samples if we want and not all samples played at the same time.

I should also note that by bit rate I meant sample rate. I think everyone understood what I meant, just wanted to clarify.

If possible this would be awesome - one of the many reasons I keep coming back to my Mirage / ASR-10 is this ability :call_me_hand:

My EPSm Rackmount goes from 6.25 to 52kHz.

I would love this feature! My good old Studio 440 has 16, 31 & 42kHz, it’s really cool to have the choice
