Problem sampling/resampling at 12bit 26k any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I’ve got a strange issue with a weird distortion appearing anytime I’m sampling from phono 1 or resampling through the 12 bit engine it only happens when the sample gets quieter (which is usually what I want to sample) and goes away completely as soon as it gets louder again. Driving me insane because it makes sampling one shots impossible because the split second of silence before/after distorts it. I thought it was the cartridge at first or the chords/some interference from the computer but I …
