Round Robin clarification

Sorry to start another thread on this but I can’t find the info I need, or maybe the info I found was worded badly ?

I like to record say, 8 drum hits from a drum machine. Then slice them and round robin for the subtle variation. Quicker than setting up a multi for 1 hit variation.

However , when I record I’m getting the whole 8 hit passage instead of the slices , which obviously makes recording in time a pain.

I’ve experimented but can’t understand under what conditions I won’t get the 8 hits but the round robin.

It works fine when auditioning , but not while recording.

I thought it was to do whether I had multi or main selected in the round robin field , but that wasn’t it.
Just need some clarity on this if anybody can help.

Cheers

Just bumping this because I have a sub question.

Is there any way to restrict the number of round robins you get , say if you only need 4 slices, or must it always use 8 ?

I’m assuming it’s 8 but that would be a time saver if you didn’t need all eight.
