I sold mine and got a mpc 3, I saw this coming, unfortunate.
I kept mine because it’s still my favorite instrument ever. I also got myself an MPC Live II recently.
I got some MPCs, the One is the newest, and I don’t touch them since I got the s2400. So for me is a keeper too as it is. I’d love some bug fixes thou.
No timelines were shared
Brad just finished the move from Florida to England en is now settling in his new home and workspace and will probably hold off from any response for the entire rest of the year, as he should enjoy the well needed family time during the holidays.
We must understand that Brad took over the role of his one and only Dev, so this means he has multiple roles to fulfill now, and shifting focus all the time ain’t fun kills productivity.
I do hope he will show some signs of life during the first or second week of January and shares a roadmap with us hopefully with some timeline predictions.
Restoring faith among Caladan investors should probably be the main priority at this point and when they managed that, i’m sure that there will be room again to shift focus and do lot’s of S2400 bug fixing. I also expect that once the Caladan is released and it’s firmware is a few versions in, that you can also expect more regular firmware updates for both machines.im just not expecting any of this before the second or maybe even the third quarter of next year.
Isla is in troubled waters and we just need to have, although it’s not easy, more patience and faith that all will turn out just fine. There is not much more we can do. Selling my S2400 will probably make me regret it since even with it’s bugs it’s just the most enjoyable machine I’ve ever worked on.
Do what you feel is best!
Listen,
i’m still on firmware 2025-318 and releasing tracks on Bandcamp and making money.
i don’t get why people are so quick to update and then blame developers for holding them back. Akai MPC owners do the same thing when it’s just a linux box with low ram no better than a laptop. your skills are not enhanced by a firmware update. encounter a bug? report it and move on. imho, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. i see this happen in DJ world also with fewls upgrading the Serato DJ Pro software and complain their database is jacked. If you are already making music or making money with existing revisions why are you needlessly upgrading!?!!?!?
make backups of your work before upgrading and make decisions based on your workflow and not because you need a new shiny update to stroke the e g o.
support the product and it will support you.
that is what we should be doing.

I wouldn’t worry yourself about it. People will be people.
Firmware updates happen because something is broke and needed fixing.
Stoked to have Brad back in the Uk
Lets go
Many things are
Just read the Caladan October update and now I understand the situation. My bad—I should have realized this earlier. I really hope things go well for Brad and Isla!
I own two S2400s, one with a DSP, a case, a pair of wooden side panels, and also a Kordbot, though it’s not currently functional. I’m also interested in the Caladan, but since I’m not a synth player, I haven’t placed an order yet. That said, I’ll probably end up ordering one anyway to pair with my S2400. So I suppose you could call me a bit of an Isla fanboy here.
In my view, the S2400 has far greater market potential due to its unique classic/hybrid style. It could appeal to both classic MPC/SP1200 users and those using more modern gear like the MPC Live/One, Maschine+, or Push 3. From a purely business perspective, it might have been easier to focus exclusively on the S2400 for a while and continue updating it.
Synthstrom’s Deluge and Dirtywave’s M8 are good examples of this approach, and both companies seem to be doing very well with just one product each. They’ve earned significant respect in the market through continuous updates and bug fixes, which has kept sales steady and made their businesses sustainable.
That said, passion also matters. While I’m not suggesting there’s any lack of passion for the S2400, it’s completely understandable that the team would want to pursue another passion project like the Caladan.
I have no doubt that both the S2400 and Caladan will ultimately be great successes. And I should add—my S2400s are already special to me, and they’re here to stay.
Cheers.
