Hi. If this topic has been covered, please direct me to it. The search function on this forum is not allowing me to search. My question: For songs on the S2400 that use stereo samples, how can I record isolated tracks (pads) via USB? My understanding is that a stereo sample on pad 1 in a song will output to USB out 1&2 and a stereo sample on pad 2 will also output to USB 1&2. Similarly, pad 3 and pad 4 output to USB 3&4 effectively treating stereo pairs of USB outputs 1-8 as busses. With this in mind, if I record 4 stereo tracks into my DAW (USB 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8) each stereo track would capture the corresponding 2 pads from all 4 banks. I want them recorded as separate stereo tracks instead of bussed together. Is there a way to do this? My calculation is that if I mute all pads in all banks except bank A pads 1, 3, 5 & 7, I will be recording the song’s stereo samples from pad 1 on USB tracks 1-2 (pad 2 is muted so it does not also get recorded on tracks USB 1-2, same for all other pads routed to USB 1-2 in other banks) stereo samples from pad 3 to USB 3-4, etc… This makes sense to me except that the song is arranged using mutes and solos. Thanks
If I have understood correctly:
Shift+PAD1 (Enter settings of PAD1)→ output 1&2
While you are in settings of any pad hit any other pad to go to its settings.
So hit PAD2 (or Shift+PAD2) → set output 3&4
PAD3→ output 5&6
PAD4→ output 7&8
Record this 4 pads and then if you want to record more stereo pads do the same thing…
Thank you. Given what you suggested, and since I’m recording a song, does muting all other pads aside from the 4 pads I’m recording keep the muted tracks from playing through the USB outputs? Or are the mutes/solos only affecting the analog outputs?
Yes to the first question, or at least it does in the looper which I use, I don’t track using USB so I’m not 100% certain. You can try it out. Also, you can put the faders in the main page (no red lights in the buttons in the left.) down for those channels if I am wrong and the mutes don’t work.
Thank you. A new issue just happened. I updated my firmware to the most recent and now all of my USB outputs seem to be offset by 2 channels (pad assigned to outs 3-4 are showing up on USB 5-6) This would be okay because I can remap them in pro tools but I’ve lost outputs 9-10 which I need in order to manually sync the groups of recorded tracks.
