Man, can’t you read?
You’re now obviously trolling… this is really frustrating man, you behave like a little child who doesn’t get what it wants.

YOU have something to deliver… not me.

I repeat,

You said youre not a troll, now its your chance to proove youre not a patological liar.

OK my friends, I’ve glanced through this, I hope we can keep things nice and friendly here. I don’t do the whole forum thing for very long time except this year been more on GS. And I’ve been happy the GS thread, miraculously, has been some of the best and kindest thread of enjoyment and excitement around.

I don’t think B even has mods etc so hope things can stay on that excitement vibe and positivity. I don’t want him having to spend time cleaning up conflict when he could spend that time hopefully shooting us an email about those Kordbots we’re waiting on ha.

Much love, and cheers, and folks can just google and figure out what works for them, it’s not a big issue, there are all sorts of wonderful tools and instruments and ways to create out there, no harm to anyone if someone goes different routes.

And FTR, mixers, boards, and data connection protocols ALL rule! ha :surfing_man: :grin:The key is support with drivers, software, and having a nice symbiotic stable machine.

Cheers JSP

Thanks for pointing out that we can connect Firewire through Thunderbolt connection.

Thats the last nail in the coffin.

Cheers.

I have given you the answer. What do you want more? Why are you rambling on about one single word I gave an explanation to already. You haven’t addressed any of the other bullet points in a meaningful way.
You have blatantly lied and posted manipulative interpretations throughout the thread for anyone to see. You stalked me and tried to impress or (probably?) intimidate me with my first name. I have kindly asked you to stop doing that twice with no reaction from you.

And like ESPI I’m here on a positive note and because I’m really happy about the S2400 I’m so looking forward to and I’m here to learn from and help others where I see fit. But the experience with you has put a really bad taste in my mouth.

That’s fire setup my friend wow :boom: really pretty perfect I like the streamlined approach and quality. I have an ASR10 as well, did you get the multiout Oer 6 or whatever it’s called? I have a dream/goal to be able to track all my stuff through some nice preamps and converters and things congrats what a nice setup! What DAW(s)/soft do you use if you don’t mind me asking, I’m looking to get sorted in this regard as well. wooo checking out API EQs too this is sweet, love it. :trophy:

No doubt! Yea I used to have the OE6Sr but I just track now either mono or stereo one track at a time thru the bae 1073’s into pro tools via the Apollo twin. I’m definitely gonna get the Api eqs but I’m uo and down between the 3 or 4 bands

I think the baes sound AWESOME and leave a lot of head room but sound full and warm it’s something about them that gives that “sound”

Does having less I/Os ever get in your way? I too was considering getting the apollo twin and tracking out individually…the pros is having a quality interface and extra dsp power to my octo core pcie card, the con is the amount of I/Os and having to record in individually. (And not being able to do on the fly automation to the beat while its playing as a whole…but come to think of it i guess i could play it as a whole while recording just one track in…and do that multiple times if need be…so yeh i guess i can work around that too)

I make mostly boom bap so a lot of my sounds at their longest duration would be a four bar chopped sample…as for the drum hits its basically the same and in most cases for something like the snare its like a second or two second track in…then i can pop it in drum rack in ableton…id probably end up using the swing in ableton too, not sure yet, will see how it goes…

The fireface 800 VS fireface UC debate has left me feeling a bit confused ha…both brought up good points…

From what ive read and heard on here about the 800 is that its top quality, many people still using to this day regardless of when it came out and its use of firewire.

The big thing putting me off is this repair malarkey, i understand its not guaranteed to blow up on me but the thought of it is off puttting…

The UC looks ace obviously, its just purely the price…i do have time to wait for a good price on anything from ebay so im not in a rush to buy so you never know i could find a steal…

The claret focusrite is my safest bet i think but (and yes this maybe a stupid reason) i just hate that red colour of it…i prefer the scarlett or saffire in terms of looks.

And again in terms of uneccassary looks the one i prefer the most out of all is the rme fireface 800…

Lot of head scratching going on right now

If you don’t mind me asking, what soft are you going to be using.

Fireface Claret and UC all killer units :boom: it’s all about finding that deal!

Omg I just got the 828 ES and had to send that thing back. It was the most frustrating user experience I’ve had in 16 years. I could not get the audio to function properly on the device, I had audio coming out of the headphones, then it just came out one ear piece and then suddenly, after 5 hours of trying, starting coming out of my left monitor via the spdif, all the while I was touching nothing, it just did this randomly.

I sent it back and picked up a used RME UFX. Motu needs to get it together.

@iofflight Your experience is not the first time Ive heard spotty performance from MOTU gear. Strange how they cant seem to shake quality issues through out the years. There are some folks who swear by MOTU, but some just swear at MOTU…

yeah it was really weird honestly. I’m pretty good at trouble shooting I have several different HDs with different OSs in my Mac Pro for this very thing and I could not get that thing to work right. It was disappointing because the 828 ES is a great price for the features with 2 sends and spdif. RME new is twice the price. After I posted about it on my FB page I had several friends chime in that they’d had similar problems with the 828 and 16A series. This is a real shame because that was going to be the direction I went when I eventually have to replace my 3 echo audiofire 12s. I thought 2 16As would be the perfect solution.

I have several of the MOTU midi patchbays and those are fine no problems.

I used to only want an interface with multiple ins so I can track faster however with the Apollo it forced me to make my drops and intros verses choruses etc in my mpc 4000 song mode and then tracking wasn’t so bad with two outs. I would just mute or send each track I’m using to an out so that the main out was playing just one particular sound. Then midi sync into protools and wait for the duration of the beat and repeat the process til the whole beat is tracked. It isn’t so bad and I like the option of throwing the Apollo in my backpack with my satellite and travel with it. I hope the s2400 allows drops to be recorded to patterns and when in song mode so the same as my Akai. I’m really looking forward to the classic sound :pray:t3:

I feel for you with the Motu.

You really deserve a warrior medal for that painful moment.

Somehow , I got fool twice AFTER being shown it was useless to try to do anything with it if it didnt want to work by itself.

MOTU really deserve the ‘‘unicorn’’ part at the end of their name…It really is a ‘‘WTF’’ audio interface.

THX for sharing your experiences with the MOTU, it’s great for others to know what has provided experiences of ease, and what hasn’t been the best ease, because going by simply features and ports, things can seem great but then if actual use is more difficult what’s the point. I think that’s one thing that’s attracted us to this wonderful S24 is to try out the workflow in the self-contained box. I’ve been avoiding the computer stuff for many reasons, one of which is I like things to be stable and count on them. Cheers on the UFX

I actually bothered to write a review on Sweetwater warning people about it because it had 5 stars and I felt it needed to be mentioned. Once I did some digging I found others with similar complaints. However I was in a bind when my Echo 8 gave out one day and needed to make a quick decision without much research. Baring funds being an issue I would have gone for a lynx aurora because they are amazing but I don’t have that kind of scratch.

O yea you know what’s up. All roads sub-burl lead past the gates of Lynx ha. What’s crazy is I was watching the Hilo hovering around the 800-900 range and that shot up, now’s the time to grab the Aurora’s people must be upgrading to the (n) or others because I’ve seen a bunch appear, but like you said, that :money_with_wings: but for those serious with it who can swing it, a surefire investment for sure

I can’t understand this whole MOTU thing.

From what iv’e researched about them in general is they sound ace, loads of people love them. but the main problem with some people is them “not working” or just really complicated to use basically.

Surely there must be a catch to this, i doubt they are that poor at making these interfaces that they just don’t work…and as far the ease of use i can’t say as i have never owned one.

But isn’t it as simple as plugging in your line inputs and recording from your daw?

I get it that the built in mixer could be a pain to work with along with complicated routing…but i don’t need any of that, i just need to plug in my monitors, the s2400s outs and have a stereo going from the interface to the s2400.

Thats it, once its all hooked up i doubt ill change anything and leave as is for a long time.

Has anyone had problems with a similar set up with the motu line?

I have been checking out the 828mk3 and the 828x, go for quite cheap on ebay.
