KordBot Beta Firmware V6

HI there, I’d like to try updating on my mac but there’s no mac updater in downloads. The mac link downloads the Win version and I haven’t been able to get it to work on Windows. How were you able to update on mac ? Some help would be awesome

Can anyone help me here ? I’ve followed all the steps and tried everything people have mentioned in this thread. I’m on Beta 4.12.00. I run the bootloader which goes very quickly every time with nothing showing on the KB screen. Whatever I do with the SD card just leads to the same result which is that nothing happens. I’ve reformatted the card on a mac , on a PC and on the KB. It’s my 4th attempt at updating and is by far the most frustrating experience trying to update a device ever, and I have quite a few boutique devices. PLEASE HELP

Which brand manufacturer card and size option is working for people here?

I have both a SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB and a Verbatim Premium 4GB, and neither were picked up by the Kordbot for the firmware update (I get the same error message as others shown here saying ‘SD card mount failed’), even though they were both recognized before in the previous firmware for storage option.

I finally got this firmware update to work by using a SanDisk Extreme 16GB SD card.
No thanks to customer support who didn’t help at all on this.

The previous two cards that I tried (SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB and Verbatim Premium 4GB) did not get picked up by the bootloader firmware.

All of these SD cards worked fine as storage cards under previous firmwares with the Kordbot!, so the new bootloader is very fussy with what SD cards it works with.

I finally got mine working today. Had to do it with Kordbot Updater on a 64 bit Windows (other laptop wouldn’t work) and an SD Card formatted on my mac to MsDos(Fat). Lots of trial and error but happily running Beta6 at the moment.

Got mine updated:
My 32GB SanDisk (FAT32) wasn’t mounting when inserted while still at completed bootloader screen.
With SD inserted I disconnected USB from Kordbot for a second, then reconnected and it came right up.

I’m having a similar problem. On Windows 10 64-bit. Kordbot is currently Beta 4.12.00, and I flashed it again with the Windows bootloader just in case. When I insert SD card while in DFU mode nothing happens. When I insert SD card before powering normally, Kordbot boots to 4.11. When inserting card after Kordbot is booted into 4.11, nothing happens.

I’ve tried multiple cards formatted as recommended. I’ve tried formatting the cards in a Mac, but nothing is working.

Where do I find the STM32 Bootloader driver that the Kordbot needs… Thanks

Keith

where is the actual firmware file here?? when i click dowload it just leads me to the features list

has the firmware file been removed? all i see is the two links to the bootloader firmware and the firmware application

Following up on this. Can we get an ETA for an updated firmware? Really would like to be able to use this and it’s unusable in current state with this firmware.

I’m having exactly the same problem. Did you manage to resolve this issue? It’s driving me mad.

we’re back on full time development on KordBot from next week.

Nice one Brad! I really don’t understand the hate. I had a few issues updating mine (pilot error) but I’m a
somewhat reasonable human and was able to sort it out.

After the magic you’ve done with the s2400 it’ll be fun to see that happens with the Kordbot. I wonder if they could be integrated to work more closely together somehow?

What “hate”? That’s just as much hyperbole as the class action lawsuit response is extreme on the other end.

The people quick to condemn the criticisms of this firmware issue, esp. with childish terms like “butthurt”, or flat-out disingenuous claims that the Kordbot works fine as is, aren’t in the right either.

There is valid frustration for the development cycle of the Kordbot. Even with the explanation from the developer. There is a legit case to be made that the handling of the Kordbot has been poor. I do not think the issues reported in this thread are lies. I do think that there were bricked units because of this firmware. I was able to successfully load v6 on my device, but it damn sure isn’t stable (not even close).

To insinuate that those complaining about this issue are somehow in the wrong is frankly crap.

I had the same issue: I forgot my sd card was partitioned: there was a tiny 25 mb or so partition called Boot and the rest of the available space on a virgin partition. I copied the firmware over to the Boot partition and Bingo!

I get also this screen.

Can’t use my Kordbot anymore now.
What to do?

What happened to get that screen?

Either way, follow the update procedure and you should be fine.

you haven’t followed the second half of the post it seems, by formatting the SD card (1 partition, fat32) and placing them fw upgrade onto the SD card root.
It seems from the screenshot that you have only flashed the bootloader.

The problem I’m having is on the 1st part, on an M1 Mac. While putting the Kordbot in dfu mode, I loaded the dfu file into the installer, but did not update. Instead, I installed the command line tools from the Help menu first, which seemed to go through it’s business fine, dl’ing files, installing, etc, line by line before declaring itself installed (or finished, or whatever). THEN I clicked the “Upgrade” button for the dfu file, but was met with:
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/opt/libusb/lib/libusb-1.0.0.dylib

Starting over from scratch, I can confirm the command line tools are installed, confirmed with:

This series of scripts will take care of installing libusb on your Mac via Homebrew.
Be patient, it might take a few minutes.

homebrew is installed
Warning: dfu-util 0.11 is already installed and up-to-date.
To reinstall 0.11, run:
brew reinstall dfu-util
Warning: libusb 1.0.24 is already installed and up-to-date.
To reinstall 1.0.24, run:
brew reinstall libusb
Warning: libusb-compat 0.1.5_1 is already installed and up-to-date.
To reinstall 0.1.5_1, run:
brew reinstall libusb-compat
Warning: cowsay 3.04_1 is already installed and up-to-date.
To reinstall 3.04_1, run:
brew reinstall cowsay
Press any key to continue…

But I (still) can’t get the Mac Updater to flash the dfu file.

Suggestions?

Addendum: In dfu-mode, the device is recognized by System Report as “STM32 BOOTLOADER” which would appear correct, yes?
