KordBot Beta Firmware V6

Update worked fine for me but the “x” doesn’t cancel the arpeggiator (INT mode) and EXT sync still not working. Anyone have any ideas?

did you create system files? using the menu option

Tried it on a second pc and it seems that it’s not doing the partial erase job you showed in your video and rushes through writing blocks. It says Programming complete but nothing happens on startup.

Hi mate, fails to do that… it mounts fine and its the same card I used since I got the kordbot. Very odd!

Here’s a video of my flashing process…

Any suggestions? Thanks y’all

Its a two step process!

Firstly, using the old method (WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THIS ON WINDOWS) please update your KordBot using this bootloader firmware kb_bootloader.dfu (29.2 KB)

Once you have completed this step, download the main firmware application
kordbot-5a4f1ad-20200905a.upf (704.5 KB)
Place this file on a FAT32 formated SD Card and then insert the card, gold contacts facing up, into your KordBot

Connect USB and power up, You should see some text on the screen showing you that KordBot is updating.
The update process should take around 10 seconds.

Yeah but I’m stuck in step one. It’s not booting into the Bootloader?

Changed my SD card from a 4GB Transcend to a 32GB Sandisk and everything went just fine. I succeeded in updating to V6.

Worked for me on Mac, running latest version of Mojave. Used an old Sandisk 1GB SD card that must have come from an old camera and it worked fine.

  1. run updater app on Mac to load bootloader DFU file.
  2. insert SD Card with new UPF file on root.
  3. power up KordBot… done.

Noticed some kind of a bug (?) on the new firmware. I have the chord type selected as something else, but when I press the A-key (or sometimes B-key) on the keyboard the chord type automagically changes to maj13. It’s quite random, does not happen every single time but often enough to be damn annoying.

My Kordbot did not have this behaviour/problem before updating.

You won’t always see the bootloader if you don’t have an SD card with the application fw on it.

Excellent work on the new firmware, Brad. Keys feel much more responsive, and I’m enjoying the MIDI in external keyboard control. (It does some rather odd things on diatonic mode, but these are teething problems.

However my gripe about the Kordbot clock remains. It’s still not quite as tight as I’d like. Sure, there are workarounds, but it’d be nice if that internal clock was a little more consistent. And yes, I get that this is beta, and I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this.

Onwards and upwards!

if you think there are issues with the internal clock, please help us out by filling in a bug report in the relevant section.
thanks

Cool. Slightly new here, but I’ll file that report.

Thanks Brad, I’ve tried several SD cards, all formated within kordbot’s own System Disk Tool. Have you seen my video? Is it normal that the erase and write process is running so fast? Still trying to figure out if step 1 was succesfull… Cheers d

Edit:
“Step 6): After the update succeeds, the KordBot will automatically boot”
This won’t happen with mine, it just stays black but the Firmware updater says Programming complete.
Just tried to flash the old V5 firmware and it’s the same and stys black…

Just a quick update that it will sync to EXT midi via DIN but not usb. Weird. Any thoughts? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

mine is syncing fine via usb

What size SD card did you use. I tried a 4 gig and a 2 gig, but when I insert the SD card in the kordbot and plug in the usb cable, nothing is happening. Ok I now tried a 16gig card and it still boots up to the regular screen, no update from the sd card too V6.

Update worked with no issues on Windows 10
