January Update

I’ll be available for the duration of the video to try and answer any questions, before I get back to work.

The Caladan soundbank creator is just sick!!! This is so way beyond my expectations and imagination and I can’t wait to create my instruments on it.

Quick question about soundfonts in combination with the DSPcard it’s limitations. are there any limits when it comes to how big the filesize of one soundfont can be? I would love to use Samplit v2 to sample some of my favorite EP instruments for example with at least 32 or maybe even 64 velocity layers? Or would that be pushing of what is possible?

Anyhow, no matter the limitations (we work with what we got), what you guys have been tinkering over the last few weeks is just mindblowing!

What shipping service are you using in the U.S?

We use UPS.

Is it too late to change my shipping address then? UPS my choice is giving me problems with filing my current address and I don’t want UPS leaving that box on my stoop when no one is home.

Will UPS be used for shipping to GB?
Just want to make sure I dont click on any dodgy email links for postal couriers I constantly get!
Thank you all for your hard work !

Will there be some bug fixes in the firmware? In the most neutral tone possible - getting level from the front panel sliders on the MIDI tracks is sell / keep for me. Thank you.

awesome @roborr @bradholland
I went to my account and I did not see the new web editor , etc. when will it be released on the Isla web site ?
will S2400 users without extra card can access it and play with it ?
thanks

@r3d3 There will be some bug fixes, including that one.

Awesome. Thank you.

the web editor is not finished, I said that in the video. It’s a work in progress.
I will upload just the convertor (the thing you saw with the synth on the screen) soon.
That will allow you to preview the presets and package as a plugin.

  1. You really don’t want to be working with soundfonts that are more than a couple of hundred Mb.
  2. The best ones (which I am already packaging as plugins on the site anyway) are those that are actulaly made of single cycle waveforms and rely on realtime controls as these are much more flexible and less of a ‘preset rompler’ kinda thing.

I was curious when the web editor was going to be up and running. Just wanted to tinker with it before my stuff arrives. Kind of glad you’re packing the best ones from the get-go. I know not too much about that kind of stuff.

Do I have to convert each SF2 file on the Caladan into a plugin, too?

Hey @bradholland or other fine ISLA person - remind me on inventory - if I order the card now, am I still in the first batch, or would I be waiting for the next round of boards? The pre-order page says “back ordered” but I think that might be a little stale?

Are you planning any revisions for the next round of boards? Thank you.

hardware is what the hardware will always be now.
there are still cards. ordering now expect 2 weeks before it ships, as I get all the existing orders out. thx

You can, although not absolutely necessary. The whole UI of the caladan was built around the linux module whereas in the S2400, there are 2 layers of abstraction between the DSP core and the UI. The Caladan has direct access to the SD card, displays etc so it will work a bit differently.

Perfect, I prefer the simple way of just putting the SF2 files directly to the SD card

@bradholland hey brad, the web editor looks sick… will the sample editor aspect work for building kits?
