How to: hit one pad: sample plays, hit another pad: first pad stops

Probably a rookie question, but how do I make it so if I hit one of my pads, it stops the previous, even if the sample has longer to play.

Thank you. I may be misunderstanding it, however, for example:

Let’s say I have pad A1 with a sample length of 9 seconds & pad A2 with a sample length of 8 seconds.

Hit Pad A1, sample plays - 5 seconds into the 9 second sample, I press pad A2, is there a way for it to trigger stop/mute pad A1?

Yep, that’s exactly what choke groups are for

Yes you can use choke groups to cut pads sounds off when the other is hit.

If you want more of an on/off button for the play of the first pad’s sample, you could always sample in silence on a second pad and set the two pads to be on the same choke group.

Now you can stop the pad from playing with another pad and not have any additional sound.
