Hi, enjoying exploring my new machine right now. I would like to request a feature for the ability to Rotate Midi Steps by Track forward and backward on the timeline. Thank you,
It’s on the to do list.
I’m still struggling to achieve this at the moment. Its great being able to shift things around but if I like a beat I just played in but the 1 isn’t on the first 16th note of a pattern, its impossible to select the whole pattern and rotate it on the grid. This does seem like a fairly necessary function, is it still not implemented?
For example, I’m currently unable to move my entire pattern by a 16th note, am I missing something?
In step program mode, you can select all the events, copy them, position the cursor where you want the first event to be, then paste.
Thanks, though it can work, it might not be convenient for un-quantized sequences.
For example, if I’ve played something in and the first step of the grid is in fact between a 16th note of my groove.
It could take several attempts of copying and pasting and zooming the cursor to find the right place to paste for the copied sequence to have the 1 (first beat) land on the first step in the sequencer grid.
I still see a use for a simple “rotate sequence” function that can be adjusted by “quantized or un-quantized” values, or simply having the possibility to selecting an event in the grid and use a command to “first step of sequence” for example.
Or is this too case specific?
I might be misunderstanding what your trying to do, but wouldn’t this work:
- Zoom to Fine
- Scroll the curser from left to the right until the first event of your recording gets highlighted.
- Hold down Shift and scroll further to the right until everything is highlighted (maybe zoom out to do it quicker)
- Zoom to Fine again
- Move everything all the way to the left by scrolling - now it starts at the first beat in the grid
@dave Did you skip a step?
4.5 Press F4 to begin shifting
Ah, yes you’re right, forgot that
I know you are describing what shifting is, but it still doesn’t allow to shift the part of the sequence that precedes the displaced intended first beat.
If a 1 bar loop is recorded and it turns out that the 3rd quarter note feels the strongests and is where you would like your loop to start, there is currently no convenient way to shift a sequence past the start and finishing lines of the grid sequencer so that everything is retained.
The only way I have managed to get around this limitation is by copying and pasting multiple parts of a loop into an empty pattern to achieve a fairly rudimentary concept of rotating or displacing a sequence.
Do you understand what I’m describing?
Ok, no, sorry I think I’ve missed the point from the beginning. I’ll leave it for others to contribute.
