Hey all! I’ve been testing out the factory Soundfont playback via the S2400 DSP Card and I’m getting lots of clicking and popping when I’m playing chords with more than like three notes - not super loud, hard to say if it’s voice stealing or some sort of zero crossing problem, etc. It is not affected by attack and release controls, seems to be a feature of how the machine is playing them back. I can add audio examples if that would be helpful. It’s especially easy to hear on darker pad sounds.
Bump - has anyone been able to replicate this behavior? I suspect its either voice stealing or optimization based, but I really don’t know. I just wanna rule out having a faulty card - it is clearly audible on even the preinstalled Soundfonts.
it very much depends on what soundfonts you are using.
I, myself created the soundfont player using open-source tools and AI.
It is not optimized as of yet and needs to be done better for sure.
I’m trying to move things along and improve as best as I can.
Wow, I didn’t realize it was all in-house that’s badass!! Yeah, I know you got your hands full - I look forward to that feature being totally ready for primetime, but I mostly just wanted to make sure it wasn’t either a broken DSP card on my end or something really simple like a voice stealing setting.
Does it improve the more you play?
I found that it seems to start ‘caching’ sounds better after you have played each patch for a while. when you’re talking about soundfonts.
also, could depend if you have other fx or live fx loaded.
I think, moving forward we will need some kinda ‘load meter’ like I see on my UAD interface, that tells you when you are reaching the limits of the DSP chip.
Let me test that! I don’t think I have spent much time playing a single Soundfont for a long time. I can confirm that I have no other FX loaded and Live FX mode is inactive when I have been testing. A load meter would be awesome (I also use LOTS of UAD stuff)! I am not expecting to load a bunch of Soundfonts, just one stable one to then sample from would be perfect for the way I work with the S2400.
