Same- But I will have to pretend I am doing it because my better half asked me to 6 months ago and not because I want to show off online…

I wish I could! We’ve been having crazy fires out here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I’ve temporarily moved almost my entire gear collection into storage for safekeeping. What I really need right now is one convenient sampler in a box with buttons and faders so I can stay creative!

Yes that’s an Akai 1/2" tape machine on the original Akai stand from the 80’s and yes it’s the best sounding parametric EQ I’ve ever personally touched. In the rack is a Matrix 6R, DP/4, Alesis 12R, Scarlett 18i20 and two patch bays that navigate every input and output. I was even smart enough to route my sampler inputs through the patch bays. That configuration was a game changer. On top of the rack an Oberheim DX. On the keyboard stands are an Ensoniq ASR10 and EPS. Not pictured is a DSI Mopho module, MPC60, Roland JX-3P and a Tech 12. Some of this will be up for sale soon as I’m preparing to downsize significantly to the pieces I use regularly.

Didnt feel like cleaning the rest- but there is also an OB-8, ASR-10, Jomox Xbase 888, Roland Tr-8s, TR-808, TR-606, TD-3, MPC-ONE, Bwasp, Roland SH-09, Yamaha G2 baby grand, misc guitars, a pair of Technics 1200 GRs, Pioneer DJm-S9 and various rack efx…

After taking this photo a few weeks back, I’ve bought the Zoom ARQ AR-48 because it was a steal. MPC Live is my main thing, I do everything with it, but I love some Elektron stuff and some Roland classic romplers in my rack. The Kordbot is my main midi-keyboard for programming my chords and melodies.

Looking forward to getting a 4 channel stereo looper pedal next.

Thanks for sharing nice stuff! I saw a youtube video mentioning the Zoom AR-48 as being basically given away for like $90, I’m still seeing it at like 200+. If you have a tip, I’d give one a try for cheap why not! Keep up the music, all, and thanks for sharing cool stuff!

Still setting up in a new spot. It’s getting there … MPC Live is the main tool for this setup along with a couple Novation analog synths, Acoustic/elec guitar , Elec Bass and of course all the records. Vocal layering with my looper live or in Ableton when recording.

I also just picked up a Zoom Sample Trak from a programmer buddy. That thing is fun and sounds pretty great for the price point. Looking for a new mixing board and upgraded monitors. If any of y’all have some collecting dust you wanna sell holler at me!

I had big plans to do a few more things here but lost my 2nd job aka gear fund job at the end of May due to covid. In fact the S2400 was the last big ticket item I bought before my funds dried out. This is from 2 years ago but the best the studio has looked in a while.

Nice. I just missed an opportunity to get an akai recorder/mixer like that. How is the sound?
Manage to get tapes OK?

Sounds amazing. Tapes are expensive but available. They rewrite nicely though. About to send it on to it’s new home. It has some history too. Came from the touring guitarist for Digable Planets. We talked for a long time when I was buying it. Apparently some of the Shabazz Palaces stuff was recorded on it. Hate to see it go but it’s not something I need. Just wanted it for a specific project.
