Can't change chord whilst a Midi Note On is active

I am trying to play an arpeggio (holding down a note on a keyboard that is plugged into the MIDI IN port) and change chords.
This doesn’t seem to work, it only lets me change the chord if I am not playing a note.

Is there a way to do this? thanks
