As of now, I’m not aware of any hardware issues with DSP cards if that’s what you mean. If you get it, I would just check to make sure the pin connectors look good before you install. And do everything really slow and carefully. It seems like a couple folks have had the wires for the fan get a little too close to the fan and that can make a nasty sound when the fan turns on, but they just had to pull them back and all was well.
Thanks
Yes there is. Please ask yourself if you really need it and can’t achieve your sound without internal plugins. For example using an sp404 mk2 or a mixer with some cheaper effect racks on sends.
Since using the card I cannot say that it is really necessary. The development has been slow to say the least. I had crashes at the beginning and the posts on the forum thread is long and slightly confusing in places. The best fx are the Live effects and they will unfortunately not be added to the main plugin directory to add on the buses. Plugins are inconsistent in performance and stability. Some are good to amazing, some are definitely challenging the dsp. There is no definitive list of what works and what doesn’t. Something I actually want to work on next month.
Bear in mind I also waited over a year to see how it develops so it wasn’t an impulse buy. It was really not enough time to wait imo. I am hopeful that one day it will get the development attention it deserves. I don’t want to come across bitter but I am honestly disappointed considering the asking price. The total price for the card is about 800€, including high custom duty in Europe.
All in all there is potential for the card but it needs a lot more love and attention from the community, the forum and Isla .
