I recently got my s2400 out of its case again for some classic sample flipping.
I installed the latest firmware and now have these two bugs:
loop sample randomly turns on, and occasionally does not respect turning it off
envelope mode sometimes does not stay “classic”
These things mostly occur when I copy a track and replace the sample (to maintain settings).
I think these bugs must have been introduced since the last firmware before the DSP card.
Since I don’t have the card, is it safe to return to an older firmware and will newer projects load?
samples (one shots) playing randomly as „loop on“ is something i experienced with the 2023 firmware as well. i couldnt say why it automaticaly loop certain samples and others not.
That’s a possibility. We’re talking about drum one shots though, and I’ve never experienced this behaviour in any drum sampler whatsoever. Why is the S2400 different?
Also, this never happens when I load a file into a new track, and it randomly turns on, and I sometimes cannot turn it off. Also that doesn’t explain the envelopes deciding they want to be hifi and can’t be changed.
Even if there’s metadata besides sound resolution in the files, I think the S2400 should not act on it. Perhaps something for quick bugfix update? I would very much appreciate it…
Ok, thank you. I take this as a sufficient explanation for now.
It does not explain why looping does turn on occasionally (as suspect this might have to do with the file ‘reloading’/reinitialising), and it does not explain why some channels insist on hifi envelops which cannot be changed.
Also: could you update your firmware to not load loop points by default. For a drum sampler, this is a totally useless feature. No single one shot I have ever played on any device profited from playing in loop when hitting a pad (but not playing in loop when the sequence is playing).
At least, give us the option.
And please, give us the option to load a project template on startup, and give us default settings for some of the options in the tracks menu like quality, pitch mode and envelopes.
After this update, I can’t get audio from Channel 1, channels 3+4 are only mono and play from the respective left and right channels. This is when listening with headphones directly out of the 2400.
