I’m relatively new to the S2400 so apologies if I’m missing something or changed a setting somewhere.
When I’m monitoring the input, the input level graphic no longer extends 100% of the width of the display / only goes to Step 14 on the Mute/Solo buttons.
Has something changed? I remember that this level would span across the full UI of the screen and go all the way up to Step 16 (like in the S2400 tutorial video on sampling).
I feel like this has happened with either a recent FW update and/or the installation of the card. But like I said, I may have just changed a setting and not realized…?
Yup, it’s not the actual audio level, it’s the UI and LED representation. Even if I crank the input volume up to max, the LEDs stop at mini pad 14 and the input level bar in the UI doesn’t go the full width of the display.
Until I realised the UI display of both pads and screen were not accurate I was sampling and clipping the audio because I assumed the audio wasn’t loud enough. It was at this point I realised the display is wrong. On checking videos on YouTube I can see the behaviour on my unit is not the same as what is in those videos (full width UI, last mini pad = red if audio is too hot).
Has something changed? Is it a bug? Is my unit faulty?
I decided to make a video to demonstrate the issue I’m describing. And lo and behold - I couldn’t recreate it. Apologies. I don’t quite know why I was experiencing the problem I was having as when I originally posted the problem, I tested it and was consistently having the issue—audio could not be pushed beyond mini pad 14 / 87.5% of the UI display, and instead it would start to clip rather than go to mini pad 16 (and display the red LED) and go to 100% width of the UI.
Anyway, now it is working exactly as expected. So this ticket can be closed. I will keep an eye out for this behavior and record it on my phone should it happen again.
OK - well it didn’t take long for the issue to re-appear. Switched off the S2400 shortly after writing the post above. Switched it back on just now and the issue is back. This time I made a video.
As you can see, I am driving the inputs as hard as they can go and the LEDS and UI do not go up to mini pad 16 (and into the red) or full width UI on the screen.
I don’t know if the actual input levels are affected or if it’s just purely a display thing. I don’t have time to test that currently. Hopefully you can recreate what I am experiencing.
OK - breakthrough here. If I start the S2400 without the SD card in the slot, then the LEDs and UI display correctly (which I think it what happened in my post earlier as the SD card was in my computer at the time). And if I start the S2400 with the SD card in the slot then I get the behavior mentioned above.
I can constantly repeat this based on whether the SD card in or out. Do any settings / system files load from the SD card at start up?
Anyway, hopefully this helps you possibly work out what might be going on.
In the meantime, on my SD card I deleted any DSP settings / config looking files and moved all my Projects into an ‘xProject’ folder and it’s now working as expected when I turn it on with the SD card inserted.
Ach sorry @Mickey - I deleted everything that wasn’t my own sample library. If it happens again I will make a copy and send it to you. But, as of now, everything is functioning again as expected. THX
