[Resolved] Latency when playing several samples at the same time

Hey,

I’m trying to use the S2400 in a live set by loading stems onto each “sound” slot of banks A and B. For example, assigning drums, bass, synth, and vocals separately and using the S2400 as a mixer/effect processor.
Each of my stems is a maximum of 8MB and lasts for 8 bars. I usually just place a trigger at the beginning of each pattern loop for most of the sounds.

The issue I’m running into is that during playback, some sounds seem to get triggered with slight latency, which causes the stems to fall out of sync. This latency/delay not happen at each loop, only sometimes.

Do you know of any workaround for this? Could it be that 8MB files are too large for this kind of setup?

The project is on a SD card, extreme pro200MB/S of 64GB, would it work better with a faster and smaller SD card?

Thanks a lot,
x
Alex

It might just be too much work for the SD card data bus.

what bpm?
what is the sample rate of the stems? 44.1k, 48k?
what bit depth are your samples? 16bit, 24bit?
stereo or mono?
exactly how many are loadad? 16 stems at once?

This wasn’t really the intention of the machine to play back a bunch of stems as a multi-track playback machine, but we can do some math here and that will tell us more.

Hey,

The sample rate was by 44.1 and 24 bits, changing it to 48 and 16 fixed it.

Thanks!

awesome stuff.
just remember, always better to prep your samples first.
Sure, S2400 will convert on the fly, but it’s taking up cpu cycles to do it.
