Found out about this today- Tons of 90s sample cds on Archive.org

sorry all, i just looked in the massive archive and the zero g datafile classics are in there, as is every other file known to man :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

get rippinā€™

Would you rename the samples with the key and tempo they are in before importing or doesnt this matter?

tempo personally i would not bother but so far as key , if you need to and have zero ear (like myself i hasten to add :rofl:) i think it is advisable

then again, if music sounds good it sounds good

It was brutal, but I finally finished downloading and resampling all of the Akai disks. I ended up just batch processing each disk as some folders were 16/44.1 and some were 32khz others 22khz, etc. Im happy to share the results, but not quite sure I have to space anywhere in the cloud right now.

As for the other disks, Im still downloading those as well. I think Im ~50% done.

Gonna use Jdownloader for itšŸ˜

I DLed about 15-20 of them when I saw it on GS (limiting myself and donā€™t want all of them, lol).
But, are the Akai ones good and worth getting?

Havent spent a long time with them, and personally I dont expect to get a whole lot of use out of the multi samples, but I am interested in the Anime set and world soundsā€¦

What about megaupload or some service like that? I donā€™t know what their limitation is.

@iofflight I can take a look. Maybe Im paranoid, but I always feel like a ton of free online storage has to have some sort of catch. That said maybe I can release parts of it for a couple days at a time and then cycle through it that way. Will keep you posted.

Please do and thank you so much for doing this. I was going to ask if you could make it available but thought that would seem like I was asking you to do a ton of work. So I refrained but I was really hoping you might.

No catch. I use it to archive photos. I think you get something like 25GB free. Itā€™s run by Ken, the megaupload guy.

I downloaded the whole lot. Took me two days doing it individually. Going through hem there are some absolute gems. Really fantastic instrument samples. Thereā€™s a lot of overlap though. And some are meh! But for free there was nothing to lose only time.

Thanks JD. I will give that a shot. I will start with the Akai samples that I had to resample from odd sample ratesā€¦

Edit: Uploading the Akai set now. Whilst I have gigabit downloads, I get nowhere near that up so it will take a while.

I have the akai folder uploaded- Mega doesnt seem to want to let me have a generic share link, and I need either an email address or a mega contact to share it with. Feel free to reach out with a Mega contact id or email address and I will add you.

:thinking: thatā€™s odd, these are my options when clicking the 3 dots next to a folder. The ā€œget linkā€ option creates a link you can copy and share.

Thanks @JDFlow I swore I looked for that yesterday and didnt see itā€¦ Temporary blindness I suppose. Anyway, here is the link to the Akai samples:

If you are on Windows, here is a PowerShell script to automate downloads of all 7z files in the folder. Just change the destination of $local from D:\ to a location on your computer. To run, open PowerShell and paste script into window and press enter.

$a = Invoke-WebRequest -Uri 'https://archive.org/download/90ssamplecds' -Method GET
$links = $a.Links.href | where {$_ -like '*.7z'}
$local = 'D:\'

foreach ($link in $links)
{
 $uri = 'https://archive.org/download/90ssamplecds/'+$link
 $path = $local + $link
 IF (Test-Path $path)
 {
  Write-Output "$path already exists"
 }
 ELSE
 {
  Write-Output "Downloading $link"
  Invoke-WebRequest -Uri $uri -OutFile $path
 }
}

EDIT: Updated to check if file already exists in case you have to stop downloads and resume later. Also added $local variable to set local drive path of where downloads will go.

Just finished downloading everything except the Nice Beats discs. Comes out to about 83 GB of over 337,000 files. Checking out some of them now. If you are looking for some really kick ass drum loops/breaks, check out Univers Sons - Kitch 70s. Donā€™t think I remember that one.
