Feature Request: FIrmware control over output selection

I have my multi-outs and stereo outs connected. Typically, when I’m just jamming or composing something, I only want to use the stereo outs because they occupy only two channels on my mixer. However, when I want to track something, I prefer to use all of the eight outs.

I can’t figure out how to use the stereo outs if the multi-outs are connected. If it’s possible, I’d love to understand how. And if it isn’t, I think it would be great if there were a toggle in the software that would let the user swap without needing to pull out plugs.

Thanks!

Hi, it’s not possible. It’s a hardware issue.

I use mine with the separate outs. I never use the stereo out.

You could use the HP output for this purpose.

That is a great idea, and I feel like a doofus for not having considered it. Thank you!!!

The toggle does make sense. However I use outputs 1 and 2 as my main stereo out and because they have the SSM filter, which adds some analogness to my digital or even vst synths. This may share with drums or may not. At point of jamming it doesn’t really matter. But I’ll just track out my instruments separately to drums when the time comes. Only completed one track so far, but that’s what I did.

Been setting up my Ableton template to have an instruments dedicated channel for recording outputs 1 and 2, and then a separate mono tracks for 1 and 2 for when I want to track drums. A toggle for main out could be nice but I don’t think it is essential.
