Can anyone please confirm this (or tell me if I’m doing something wrong) as I think this is probably a bad BUG.
You will be able to hear this problem more clearly here if you use long-ish samples like ride cymbals, crash cymbals, etc.
Steps:
-
Start with empty pattern
-
‘Shift+Pad 1’ to Assign Sound to Pad 1
-
Record a few Pad 1 hits into the pattern
-
'Shift+Pad 1 again ’ to assign new sound to Pad 1, if you let the pattern play or hit Pad 1 you can scroll through your sample folder and preview sounds, this is expected behaviour.
-
Exit the ‘Assign sound’ window.
-
Press Envelope, then B (for Pad 1) to bring up the Envelope window. Dial in a long Attack and adjust Pitch to around +20 so you can really hear the pitch bend up on the sample (hit Pad 1 to preview)
-
Rec a couple of hits of this adjusted Pad 1 sound into the pattern
-
‘Shift+Pad 1’ to assign new sound to Pad 1, if you let the pattern play or manually trigger Pad 1 you can preview other sounds with the pitch bend you have just created using the Envelope, again this is expected behaviour.
BUG >
-
Now try to Assign any new sound to another pad, the assign sound preview plays with the Env-Pitchbend setting
-
But worseNow you have written an Env-Pitchbent sound into a pattern, there seems to be no way of getting the Assign Sound Preview to play normally
eg Delete the envelope, use a new pad with no envelope, delete the pattern, delete everything, clear all etc. The Assign sample preview keeps playing ANY sample with the pitch bend setting you dialled in. Even if you close the project and open up a saved project, you will find that Assign Sound Preview STILL plays with the Env+Pitchbend preview!
The ability to preview samples properly seems to be totally impossible until you literally turn the S2400 off and on again. I’m calling this a nasty BUG
tldr: BUG > Pitchbend a sound using the Envelope, write it to a pattern, the ASSIGN SOUND function will preview all sounds using the pitchbend and you can’t stop it doing this until you turn the machine off.
