Buggy preview after loading a kit sound

This one is tricky but reproducible with the following steps:

  1. Start the machine (Load@Start: Nothing)
  2. Press Shift + Pad 1, select Assign sound, go to Chaz Emphatic/EMPHATIC_DRUMS_A2
  3. Scroll through the sounds to make sure they are previewed correctly as complete audio files
  4. Select KP_HAT by pressing on the encoder
  5. Go back to Assign sound
  6. Scroll to KP_KIK
  7. Press Pad 1
  8. Scroll again through the sounds, hear that only a part of each audio file is played
  9. Press Back a couple of times
  10. Press Shift + Pad 2 and go to Assign sound
  11. Check the previews, they are played only partially as well

Great find! I can reproduce it too.
Step 1 to 7 is how it supposed to work, I think.

Step 8 and higher is where the bug(s) occur IMO:

  • Step 8: scrolling should still preview total sample, despite there was a sample assigned by pressing A1
  • Step 11: This is a new pad with a new assignment. I think it should work exactly like step 1-7, so without any state about pad assignments before.

I’m also having a problem with the pad itself not triggering the sample while still in track settings. I’m pretty sure that is new in the latest firmware, but I have not tested the 2022 firmware yet to confirm my suspicion.

I think the steps 6-7 are the key. When I was omitting step 6, everything worked as expected.

This is a very specific and fiddly bug to find, but I can replicate it.

Weeeeeird! Good find.

It is correctly loading settings from the kit.

  1. Go to File select Load Kit
  2. Navigate to internal/Chaz Emphatic
  3. Click on EMPHATIC_DRUMS_A2 to load the kit
  4. Press Loop/Slice
  5. Notice that the main (non-multi-mode) slice is not the entire sound for any of them.

I think this may have something to do with a bug I mentioned here:
