Loving the new DSP card. Lots of cool stuff, however I have no clue how to get an effects bus that has a VST like the vintage dreams loaded up to play from my midi keyboard. I have it to where I can midi focus on the midi banks and it shows that it is receiving midi, but how to hook that up to play the VST loaded on bus 7 and 8 I have no idea
have you seen this video? Brad loads an instrument VST into a stereo bus, which is what I think youre asking DSP Update s2400
I’ve seen that before but I still don’t quite understand. It doesn’t show how the midi tracks get routed to the bus. Also does this mean the midi has to be prerecorded already? I was plugging my hair out for 1 hours yesterday to find anyway for the midi coming into E1 to be routed to Analog Dreams VST on bus 7 and 8. In another video I do believe Brad plays live into the VST and has midi focus on. I had midi focus on as well and went through all the track parameters and couldn’t find anything. Probably user error but it would be nice to have a quick manual write up on some of the stuff.
Hey Marek,
A video showing this and the written use manual is actively being worked on right now.
Please hang tight.
If you loaded an instrument into DSP bus 1, then go to a midi track, make sure you have midi focus on by pressing the red A button for that channel. Make sure you go to midi track settings and turn on output to DSP card. and use the MIDI channel that corresponds to the dsp bus number you want to play (in this case, 1)
Driving the VST instruments from the MIDI tracks feels like an elegant integration into the existing architecture.
I am very interested in some of the old E-mu content, specifically the multi-layer acoustic drums SoundFont from Digital Sound Factory. I saw one of the other threads suggesting we could load pluggins to the SD card and they’d auto-sync to the DSP. Is it the same for the content files? It seems like the fluidsynth code is already existing for “vintage dreams”.
