DSP Insert Error after multiple add/remove

I found a reproducible bug with adding DSP plugins.

Start with a fresh system boot.
Assign a mono sample to A1 like a drum loop.
Go to the DSP bus menu, bank+0.
Assign a plugin like Airwindows Reverb with Reverb preset to channel 1.
Play the sample on pad 1.
Select the plugin and delete it (button 3).

Now re-add the same plugin preset, play the pad, and delete the plugin. Repeat this addition/deletion process 3 to 5 times.

Eventually you will get an Insert Error. At this point you can’t add anymore plugins or play any assigned samples on any pads. A system reboot is required to hear audio again.

are you on the very latest firmware from Friday?

Yes, very latest firmware for both s2400 and dsp.

I had Insert Error happen as well under a different circumstance. I tried syncing the arm64 version of AM synth from the KX studio repository and the aarch64 version of Nekobi from patch storage and was met with the Insert Error message for both. I figured they just weren’t compatible, but then I was met with the same message for all plugins on the machine. On top of that my computer wouldn’t see my sd card in MSC mode or through the reader on my computer, but luckily I was able to delete the files on the S2400 itself and get things back to normal. I was running the latest firmware for both.

I’m unsure which synth was the culprit, if it was both or something entirely coincidental. This also could have been an error on my part being that I’m learning about Linux on the fly (is arm64 the “same” as aarch64?), but I’m going to be cautious about what I decide to sync and stick to the plugin directory and recs from more experienced users.

can you make the two plugins you tried available for us to test?

Sure. I was mistaken and I got them both from the patch storage link that was provided here a while back. When I did this I synced them both at the same time so I’m unsure which one (if any) was the culprit. I wanted to get things back to normal so I just deleted them both and didn’t test syncing one at a time to see if one worked and the other didn’t. Here are the links:

I did another test where I synced each of those plugins individually. AM Synth was the one that presented me with the Insert Error situation that I mentioned before. Nekobi synced fine and loaded fine but wouldn’t produce any sound. I loaded other instrument plugins in the same spot to make sure it wasn’t a midi issue and they worked fine.

I confirm that AM Synth does not load, we are looking into it. also Nekobi does not produce any sound here either…

Cool thanks! Honestly in terms of subtractive synths it would be great if TAL Noizemaker could run in a more full capacity. I found an LV2 port of it that is most of the way there but certain parameters aren’t there. In its current state it runs as a 2.5 Osc synth on the S2400 with no polyphony/unison, portamento, legato or LFO. Even just getting those features functional would be amazing since I don’t think the FX section it has is necessary given what we already have one the machine.

My programming knowledge is non existent so I don’t know how friable this sort of thing is, but I’ll include a link if you are interested in checking it out. It’s a collection of TAL plugins ported to LV2 format.

Same bug for me.

Similar error here but I got it with RX950.
