Started as a D.J. at the age of 13 spinning parties till the age of 18. I released a vinyl record independently in the 5 boroughs of N.Y.C. as well as distributed it. It was a successful single and sold out of all stores. At that point in time I began attending Institute of Audio Research school in Manhattan. I wanted to know more about the studio gear and what made it tick. In 1999 I began running my own underground recording studio in my basement. It was mostly focused on providing an affordable way for artists that had a small budget but wanted to record a decent sounding demo or mixtape. Business started to increase fast. The basement was not the proper place to record industry standard music. I decided to move up to the first floor and build a sound proof vocal booth as well as acousticly treat the entire room. Business had tripled and I was working 12 hours a day. My studio gear was up to industry standard level by 2003 and I had a business license and tax certificate. The studio gear fastinated me and still does. I had to now learn to maintain my gear and keep it fully functional. I had learned a thing or two from school such as soldering, cleaning circuit boards, changing old tubes. Some things I learned on my own by reading and doing tons of research. My recording studio closed to the public when Covid 19 began. I then went out of business like many other small businesses. I still have all my gear but I retired from being a studio engineer for other’s and I only record my own electronic music now.
